A few years ago, a speech therapist said something to me that changed my life: “the absolute worst thing a singer can do is sports!” Her statement was a reference to the idea that the physical tension required for sports performance is a direct contradiction to the relaxed state the body should be in for proper vocal technique. I was shocked. Being both a professional singer and a fitness freak for most of my adult life, I never really considered the role that physical activity played in my singing. I asked myself:
– Is the physical tension needed for getting in shape an obstacle to achieving or maintaining proper vocal technique?
– If so, why?
– Is there an effective way to train the body and the voice together?
It was my search for answers to these questions that led me to create the VOXXBODY Vocal Fitness System.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s stopping me from just singing my favorite song while doing another home workout program that I already own, or while I’m working out at the gym?
Absolutely nothing. Honestly.
However, you should consider that singing while you work out in the gym isn’t really considered proper ‘gym etiquette’. Also, the overwhelming majority of modern home workout programs are designed to make you sweat, with no thought given to whether or not you use your voice while you train.
The background music in a typical strength-based home workout program usually doesn’t match the rhythmic ‘flow’ of the movements they accompany. As a result, singing to your own music during these pre-programmed workouts can actually lead to more vocal strain. The music in VOXXBODY is tailor-made for singing while training.
I have some physical and vocal issues. Can I still do the program?
Consult with your doctor if you are experiencing chronic pain from an injury, or have medical issues such as diabetes, cardiovascular or respiratory problems. Always check with your physician before starting an exercise or nutrition program, especially when you have special clinical or medical considerations.

What do I do after the program is complete?
You can repeat the program entirely or partially (repeat levels 1, 2 or 3 individually, for example). Try increasing the intensity of the movements or using slightly heavier weights.
